RTO Karwi Chitrakoot

Karwi Chitrakoot or Chitrakoot Dham is a city and pilgrimage centre in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Chitrakoot Dham is situated 12 miles west of Karwi and is quite a populous city. All its people and tourists depend on the Chitrakoot RTO (UP-96) for essential services like issuance of driving licence, vehicle registration, etc. and smooth transportation.

Karwi Chitrakoot RTO serves the following functions:

Karwi Chitrakoot RTO provides several types of driving licence. Here is a list of a few of them:

• Light motor vehicle licence (for commercial and non-transport vehicles)
• Light motor vehicle licence (to motorcycles with gear and over 50cc engine displacement)
• Two-wheeler licence (to vehicles with lower than 50cc engine capacity)
• Heavy goods motor vehicle licence
• Heavy trailer licence (to drivers already possessing a heavy motor licence)

Karwi Chitrakoot RTO provides 2 types of vehicle registration:

1. Permanent Registration

2. Temporary Registration

Completion of registration will provide one with a number for one’s vehicle’s number plate.

There are various types of charges involved in the registration process of a vehicle in Karwi Chitrakoot. Here is a list naming a few of them:

Karwi Chitrakoot abides by a similar system that UP road tax follows:

• Two-wheelers: 2% to 8% of their price (costing below ₹0.20 to above ₹2 lakh)
• Four-wheelers: 3% to 9% of their price (costing between ₹6 lakh to ₹20 lakh)
• Commercial vehicles: ₹665 to ₹3320 and ₹470 each ton (with loading capacity below 1 ton to above 10 tons)

Yes, before driving a vehicle on public roads one should have third-party insurance. ₹1000 fine and/or imprisonment up to 3 months can be the punishment for driving a vehicle without one.

It is mandatory to have a motor insurance before driving a vehicle on public roads. In Karwi Chitrakoot and in Uttar Pradesh as a whole, one is liable to pay a fine of ₹1000 and may also have to face imprisonment for not having that.

A third-party insurance policy is mandatory to cover legal liabilities that can occur due to accidents where third-party property and/or a third person is injured.

According to a 9^th July 2022 report, a pick-up truck ran over 8 people who were sleeping outside their house. 6 of them died on the spot and 2 of them were seriously injured. Due to this incident, aggrieved villagers blocked the highway.

In the road safety campaign organised from 22^nd to 28^th July 2021, there were bearers of E-Rickshaw, Truck, Taxi Drivers, and Union of Bus services who participated in the campaign aiming to educate the public about various aspects of road safety ranging from polluting vehicles to drunken driving.
