Sant Kabir Nagar is one of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the parts of the Basti division and is spread over 1646 Km. The city has only one RTO office. The Regional Transport Office in this district is known by a unique code UP-58. Further, if the same person repeats the offence, they must pay a double fine of ₹4000 and/or serve imprisonment of up to 3 months.

As per a news article in 2022, the road conditions in this district were highlighted. The National highways, state roads, and link roads were seen as damaged. This has caused road accidents.

Deaths due to traffic violations are quite common in Sant Kabir Nagar. In 2021 alone, 42 people died in five different vehicle collisions on Uttar Pradesh Highways. This occurred mainly between speeding vehicles and the ones parked by the road.

According to a local newspaper, a public school in Sant Kabir Nagar organised a road safety campaign. The students took oaths to spread awareness of the same, among others.

The RTO in Sant Kabir Nagar has been actively taking responsibility for curbing traffic violations. In regard to this, a few years back, they organised an awareness campaign in Sant Kabir Nagar. They circulated pamphlets among motor vehicle drivers. This campaign ran for a week, as a local news channel reported.
