RTO Firozabad

Firozabad is one of the most prosperous districts in Uttar Pradesh and it also has India’s largest glassmaking industry. The city has close proximity to Agra and is well-connected via road networks. The transportation and vehicle-related issues and discipline on the same are maintained by Firozabad RTO which is identified by the code number UP-83.

Like other RTOs in the state, Firozabad RTO also has the responsibility to regulate vehicle registration, driving licence, traffic rules, and so on. The functions of the RTO are listed below:

• Issues learner’s and permanent driving licence
• Regulates driving schools
• Helps to track your vehicle registration status
• Issues duplicate driving licence
• Renew driving licence and vehicle registration certificate
• Issues hypothecation certificate
• Issues special driving permits
• Firozabad RTO issues international driving license as well
• Tracks the record of traffic rule violation
• Charges penalty upon violation of traffic rules
• Enforces new traffic laws and reforms the old ones
• Collects road taxes and checks PUC 

Different types of driving licence are issued in Firozabad RTO for different types of vehicles such as:

• Permanent driving licence
• Learner’s licence
• Heavy goods carrying vehicle licence
• Heavy passenger carrying vehicle licence
• Commercially used light motor vehicle licence
• Non-transportation light motor vehicle licence
• Licence for two-wheeler motorcycle up to 50cc capacity
• Licence for cars, light motor vehicles, and geared motorcycles over 50cc
• Driving licence for scooters and mopeds (Without gear)
• Licence for heavy trailers (Only for the drivers who have heavy vehicle driving licences)

Two types of vehicle registration certificate are available in Firozabad. These are:

1. Permanent Registration

2. Temporary Registration

These registration processes are available for different types of vehicles. Once the vehicle registration is done, the number will be given to you who you need to display on the number plate of your vehicle.

The vehicle registration charges in Firozabad are as follows:

• Invalid Carriages: Registration and renewal charge are ₹50
• Light Motor Vehicles: Registration charge is ₹600
• Light Motor Vehicles: Renewal fees are ₹5000
• Heavy Passenger Vehicles: Registration and renewal charges are ₹1500
• Motorcycle: ₹300 for registration and ₹1000 for renewal
• Medium Goods-Carrying Vehicles: Registration and renewal fees are ₹1000
• Imported 3-wheeler or Motorcycles: Registration charge is ₹2500 and renewal charge is ₹10000
• Medium Passenger Vehicles: Registration and renewal charges are ₹1000
• Three-wheelers: Registration charge is ₹600 and renewal charge is ₹2500
• Other Vehicles: ₹3000 for registration and ₹6000 for renewal

Road taxes of the region are also collected by the Firozabad RTO as per UP road tax norms. These taxes are classified as per the cost, capacity, and weight of the vehicles. These are as follows:

Two-wheelers

• Under 90.72 kg: ₹150
• Within ₹0.20 lakh:  2% of the value of the vehicle
• Vehicle Cost Range From ₹0.20 to ₹0.60 lakh: 4% of the value of the vehicle
• Vehicle Cost Range From ₹0.60 to ₹2 lakh: 6% of the value of the vehicle
• More Than ₹2 lakh: 8% of the value of the vehicle

Four-wheelers

• Under ₹6 lakh: 3% of the value of the vehicle
• From ₹6 to ₹10 lakh: 6% of the value of the vehicle
• From ₹10 to ₹20 lakh: 8% of the value of the vehicle
• More Than ₹20 lakh: 9% of the value of the vehicle

Loading Capacity

• Less than 1 ton: ₹665
• Between 1 to 2 tons: ₹946
• Between 2 to 4 tons: ₹1430
• Within 4 to 6 tons: ₹1915
• From 6 to 8 tons: ₹2375
• From 8 to 9 tons: ₹2865
• More Than 10 tons: ₹3320 along with added vehicle tax for UP transport for each ton
• Each tone above 10 tons: ₹470

The traffic violation fines will be levied on individuals for violating traffic rules in Firozabad. However, these charges are uniform throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh.

• Driving and Talking on the Phone: ₹1000 (first time)
• Driving and Talking on the Phone: ₹10000 (second time)
• Wrong Parking: ₹500 (first time)
• Wrong Parking: ₹1500 (second time)
• Without Licence Driving: ₹5000
• Driving Without Helmet: ₹500
• Driving and Not Wearing Seatbelt: ₹1000
• Over speeding: ₹4000

It is mandatory to have a motor vehicle insurance in Firozabad. Apart from its legal importance, it is also for covering the damage due to unfortunate road mishaps. However, if you drive vehicles in Firozabad that do not have proper insurance, you may face registration cancellation, driving licence suspension, and fines.

With the increasing population, vehicle numbers and traffic congestion, and accidents are also rising throughout the state. Several cases are reported, such as the death of a judge on Agra-Lucknow expressway in Shikohabad region of Firozabad. Another news of a brutal accident happened in Firozabad where a reckless truck dragged a car up to 2 km from the collision spot.

To manage all these mishaps at the local level, Firozabad RTO is taking helpful steps. The CM of this state is also taking preventive measures to reduce the accident rate. However, several roadway projects are continuing in the state, which will contribute greatly to the transport system. 

To enhance awareness regarding road safety, the state chief minister arranged a campaign for road safety month that continued from 5^th January to 4^th February 2023. Firozabad traffic sector also arranged a special road safety program on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The main motive of this program was to take oath for adhering to traffic rules, wearing helmets, etc.
