Ambedkar Nagar is located in the North-Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, which was established on 29th September 1995, and named in memory of Dr B. R. Ambedkar. It houses approximately 3,333,065 people who depend on the local RTO (UP-45) services for issuance of driver’s licence, vehicle registration, and various related services.

The registration process of a vehicle involves various types of charges. Here is a list of a few of them applicable in Ambedkar Nagar: 

• Registration charges: ₹600 (for every vehicle)

• Temporary registration charges: ₹1200 - ₹1500 (validity period: 1 month)

• Number plate charges: ₹230 - ₹400

• Two-wheelers: 2% to 8% of a vehicle’s price (below ₹0.20 to above ₹2 lakh) 

• Four-wheelers: 3% to 9% of a vehicle’s price (between ₹6 lakh to ₹20 lakh) 

• Commercial vehicles: ₹665 to ₹3320 and ₹470 per ton (loading capacity range: less than 1 ton to more than 10 tons)

The following list of traffic fines and penalties shows the consequence of violating traffic rules and regulations in Ambedkar Nagar: 

• Rash driving and jumping red light: ₹1000 to ₹5000 and/or 6 – 12 months imprisonment 

• Juvenile offences: ₹25000 and imprisonment for 3 years 

• Overloading two-wheelers: ₹2000 and/or disqualification of driving licence

• Driving without a seat belt: ₹1000 

• Aggregators riding without a licence: ₹25000 to ₹100000 

Yes. Not having insurance would cost a fine of ₹1000 and up to 3 months of imprisonment. Moreover, your licences and vehicle registration can be suspended. 

Carrying this document at all times while driving is mandatory in Ambedkar Nagar. This provides coverage in times of accidents where a third person is injured or a third party's property is damaged.

According to a report, on 15th January 2023, a 50-year-old resident of Jamunipur (Ambedkar Nagar) met with an accident when he was near the Sharda Sahayak canal. A vehicle with an unknown driver hit him and fled the scene, resulting in serious injury to Hausila Prasad. The district hospital declared the man dead.

As per the proposition of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a road safety awareness drive was held from 5th January to 4th February. 

The campaign aimed at correcting things like road engineering, parking system, and preventing instances of over speeding, overloading, etc., along with creating and improving awareness regarding traffic rules and regulations.
