Siddharth Nagar, popularly known as Naugarh, is a town in Uttar Pradesh with a moderate population. According to a section of historians, Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) spent the initial portion of his life in this region.

Presently, rice farming contributes as a major revenue source in this district. There is only one RTO office in this region bearing the code UP-55. It is entrusted with all the administrative duties related to transport laws and vehicle safety.

A vehicle RC book remains valid for 15 years starting from the registration date. Besides these charges, you will also need to pay a road tax which depends on rates fixed by the respective state transport authority.

For two-wheelers:

• Moped with an unladen weight of less than 90.72 kg: ₹150 

• Cost ₹0.20 lakh: 2% of the cost

• Priced over ₹0.60 lakh and up to ₹2.00 lakh: 6% of its price 

• Value exceeding ₹2.00 lakh: 8% of its cost

• Cost ₹6.00 lakh and less: 3% of its value 

• Valued between ₹6.00 lakh and ₹10.00 lakh: 6% of its value 

• Priced over ₹10.00 lakh and up to ₹20.00 lakh: 8% of its price 

• Surpassing ₹20.00 lakh: 9% of its cost

For commercial vehicles (as per the loading capacity):

• Less than 1 ton: ₹665.00 

• Between 1 ton and 2 ton: ₹940.00 

• From 2 ton to 4 ton: ₹1430.00 

• Between 4 ton and 6 ton: ₹1915.00 

• Within a range of 6 ton to 8 ton: ₹2375.00 

• Above 8 ton and below 9 ton: ₹2865.00 

• From 9 ton to 10 ton: ₹3320.00 

• More than 10 ton: ₹3320.00 + ₹470 per supplemental ton

The state government revised all the traffic fines guidelines in Uttar Pradesh in September 2019. Therefore, you should be aware of the most recent penalties:

• Overspeeding: ₹1,000 - ₹2,000 for LMVs, along with licence seizure

• Juvenile Offences: ₹25,000 with 3 years imprisonment

• Driving Without a Licence (for Aggregators): ₹25,000 to ₹1 Lakh

• Riding Without a Helmet: ₹1,000 or licence disqualification

• Blocking Emergency Service Providing Vehicles: ₹10,000

Road Safety Month was observed in Siddharth Nagar from January 5 to February 4, 2023. During this time, the UP-55 RTO prioritised the following initiatives:

• Discussing how to drive while being aware of existing road conditions

• Stressing the potential dangers of drunk driving
