RTO Maharajganj

Maharajganj is a town located near the borders of Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh. Devotees usually crowd the place during the Navratri festival and come to visit the temples of Lehra Devi. 

Besides being a densely populated zone, the town witnesses large numbers of tourists during September and October, keeping the RTO officials occupied. They perform the duty of managing traffic flow, especially during the tourist seasons.

RTO Maharajganj has been entrusted to carry out the following functions:

• Enforcing road safety rules

• Issuing driving licences (both learner’s licence and permanent licence)

• Offering car and two-wheeler registration services

• Issuing motor vehicle permits

• Controlling pollution occurring from PUC certificate-failed vehicles

• Levying road taxes

The Regional Transport Office in Maharajganj issues four types of driving licence:

• Commercial Driving Licence
• Learner’s Licence 
• Permanent Licence
• International Driving Permit

You can get any of the two following types of vehicle registration certificates by visiting the Maharajganj RTO:

• Permanent registration

• Temporary registration

Depending on the category of vehicle you drive (commercial/ personal), you will be issued a specific types of number plate bearing the registration number. 

According to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, vehicle registration is a lawful duty of each rider/ driver in India. Here, you may see the latest vehicle registration charges in Maharajganj:

• For issuing number plate: ₹230 - ₹400

• For parking: ₹2,000 - ₹4,000

• With unladen weight below 90.72 kg: ₹150 

• Valued ₹0.20 lakh: 2% of the vehicle's price 

• Cost from ₹0.20 lakh to ₹0.60 lakh: 4% of its cost 

• Priced more than ₹0.60 lakh but less than ₹2.00 lakh: 6% of its price 

• Priced over ₹2.00 lakh: 8% of its cost

For Four-wheelers:

• Valued ₹6.00 lakh and below: 3% of its value 

• Priced between ₹6.00 lakh and ₹10.00 lakh: 6% of its value 

• Over ₹10.00 lakh and up to ₹20.00 lakh: 8% of its price 

• Exceeding ₹20.00 lakh: 9% of its cost

For Commercial Vehicles (Loading capacity):

• Below 1 ton: ₹665.00 

• Between 1 ton and 2 ton: ₹940.00 

• Over 2 ton and up to 4 ton: ₹1430.00 

• From 4 ton to 6 ton: ₹1915.00 

• Between 6 ton and 8 ton: ₹2375.00 

• Above 8 ton and below 9 ton: ₹2865.00 

• From 9 ton to 10 ton: ₹3320.00 

• Over 10 ton: ₹3320.00 + ₹470 per ton

You are liable to pay fines according to the revised rates if any on-duty police officer catches you breaking traffic regulations in Maharajganj. Refer to these penalties to understand how much the fines have increased compared to the previous rates:

According to law, it is mandatory to have a motor insurance in India. The local RTO only permits you to drive in Maharajganj with a valid third-party vehicle insurance policy. Finding guilty of this act may lead to a penalty of ₹2,000 if it is the first time. You are liable to pay a ₹4,000 traffic fine for subsequent instances. Moreover, you may also have to serve three months of imprisonment. 

Just at the beginning of this year, a traffic mishap occurred in Maharajganj where a bus overturned, accidentally killing 12 people. Excluding these once-in-a-while unfortunate events, several road safety drives recently were organised. To many people's surprise, several bikers were arbitrarily spotted riding without protective gear. The authorities imposed penalties, and necessary precautionary steps were advised to them in effect to stop future unfortunate events.
