How to Pay Passport Fees?

You can pay both online and offline. According to the new rule, online payment of passport fees is mandatory to schedule an appointment at all Passport Seva Kendras.

Online

Here are the following ways you can pay passport application fees online:

  • Internet banking (State Bank of India and other associated banks)
  • Credit or Debit cards
  • State Bank of India Wallet Payment

As an applicant, you only need to pay a regular passport fee while paying online. However, once your application for a passport under the Tatkal scheme is accepted, you must pay the Tatkal fees in cash at Passport Seva Kendra or Passport Office.

Offline

If you visit your nearest Passport Seva Kendra without an appointment, you can pay passport application fees in cash. You can also pay through a bank challan of the State Bank of India.

If you select the surrender certificate, choose from the following to calculate passport fees:

  • Acquired foreign nationality before 1st June 2010
  • Acquired foreign nationality on or after 1st June 2010 

Note:  Minor applicants get a 10% rebate on their application for a new passport. The age limit is less than or equal to 8 years. Senior citizens can also enjoy this rebate. They must be more than 60 years of age to get the benefit.

  • If you have paid the passport fee for an appointment and do not book the appointment slot, you will not get a refund.
  • The Regional Passport Office will refund the excess amount in case of additional payments of similar passport fees.
  • Select “Print Application Receipt” to generate the application reference number and receipt if you pay passport application fees online.
  • You must bring the following documents when you visit the Passport Seva Kendra:

1. ARN or Application Reference Number

2. A printout of a receipt or the SMS that you have received
