It is an international airport located 14 km from Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal and is one of the oldest airports in India opened in 1924. The airport is a hub for the eastern and northeastern parts of India. It is spread over 1641 acres of land and is one of the two international airports in West Bengal.
It is another international airport in West Bengal located in Bagdogra, 12 km south-west from the city centre. The airport received its international airport status in 2002. It is the second busiest airport in West Bengal and has international operations to Suvarnabhumi Airport of Bangkok, Thailand and Paro International Airport in Bhutan.
Located in Andal, Durgapur, it is a domestic airport serving the cities of Asansol and Durgapur. The airport gets its name from the famous Bengali poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and is the third busiest airport in West Bengal.
It was inaugurated on 19th September 2013 and is located 15 kilometres from Durgapur and 25 kilometres from Asansol. This airport operates flights to major cities in the country.

It is another addition to the list of airports in West Bengal. Located at Cooch Behar, the airport covers an area of 173 acres and has one designated runway. The airport is 6.2 kilometres from the city centre, with no active commercial flights.
However, the airport might receive its licence in 2024 to continue its daily flights to and from Kolkata.
Built-in 1947, this airport is located at Behala in Kolkata, West Bengal. It is commonly known as Behala Flying Training Institute or Behala Flying Club and is located around 8 kilometres from the city centre. The airport currently has one runway of 3500 ft operational.
Another addition to the list of West Bengal airports is Burnpur Airport located 8 km from Asansol. The IISCO Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India owns the Burnpur Airport. It has one operational runway 9/27 and can handle small-size aircraft.
This airport is situated 6 kilometres away from Balurghat, West Bengal. The airport does not have any current operations. However, there are plans to start the operation of this airport soon. Following are some of the updates related to this airport:
Malda Airport is located around three kilometres from the city and is spread over 140 acres of land. This airport was built in 1962 to cater the cargo flights, but later it operated weekly flights to and from Balurghat and Kolkata. However, in 1989, the operations of this airport were withdrawn.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the largest and most recognised airport in West Bengal. Furthermore, it is also the largest airport in eastern India and spreads over 2460 acres of land.
Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport or Durgapur Airport, is the first Greenfield Airport in India and the only one in West Bengal. Bengal Aerotropolis Pvt. Ltd. (BAPL) with technological assistance from Changi Airports International, Singapore has developed this airport.
