Should have age between 17.5 years and 21 years.
They must be certified by a recognised board.
Applicants should have a minimum of 50% marks on their boards.

One of the most important aspects of the Agneepath scheme is that there will be no admission test for recruiting youngsters. The selection committee will shortlist the students based on the following:
Physical test: Candidates will have to undergo Squats, a 1.6 km run, Push-ups and Bent Knee Sit-ups as a part of the physical test.
Medial test: Applicants will have to meet the medical standards to qualify for this scheme.
Training program: Candidates will also have to undergo a training program and then be evaluated to shortlist the capable ones.

The government has decided to increase the upper age limit of eligible youth to 23.
After the tenure of service, the government will retain up to 25% of the Agniveers in the permanent cadre.
This selection will be made based on medical fitness, merit, as well as their willingness.
The other 75% of the Agniveers will be given the Seva Nidhi amount and released.
Agniveers will have to wear a uniform during their engagement with the armed forces under this scheme.

There are about 46,000 vacancies for the recruitment of soldiers under this scheme. However, the Dept of Military Affairs plans to extend this number to up to ₹1.25 Lakhs in the future.
The tenure of service for the Agniveers is four years. After the end of four years, you can continue working if you perform your duties brilliantly. Also, the government will support the discharged soldiers in finding civilian occupations after this tenure.
Yes, both male and female candidates can apply under this government scheme to join the Army, navy, and air force. Also, the eligibility criteria for female applicants will be similar to those of males.
Agniveers will be eligible to receive ₹2.52 Lakhs in hand salary in their first year, ₹2.77 Lakhs in their second year, ₹3.06 Lakhs in their third year, and ₹3.36 Lakhs in their fourth year of service.
The Agniveers will receive ₹11.71 Lakhs as a Seva Nidhi package after the completion of their four-year tenure. This amount includes their contribution to Agniveer corpus from their monthly CTC, equal contribution of government to this corpus and the interest on this accumulated amount.
