Para SF Commando recruits are given a series of badges to strive towards as part of their training to become a Special Forces member. Listed below are the specifics of each Badge that a Para SF Commando has to attain:

Badge Name

Description

Balidaan Badge

This emblem was named after the Balidaan, or sacrifice, committed by a candidate while performing his duty as a Special Force Commando. This badge is only available to candidates who are members of the Parachute Regiment.

Shoulder Title

This has a unique meaning among the Para SF Commandos because only the commandos of unique Forces are allowed to wear the insignia.

Para Wings

This is the third most important Badge a Para SF Commando may earn. It was once worn on the upper right sleeve of the uniform.

Regimental Badge

It is unique to the Parachute Regiment. The design features an open Parachute imprinted behind a circle with the words "ParaCHUTE" at the top and "REGIMENT" at the bottom.

Jump Indicator Badge

The Jump Indicator emblem is typically a brass emblem that consists of a white Parachute with wings in three colours: red, yellow, and blue.

Diving Badge

The Diving Badge is a customised badge presented to candidates who complete some type of diving, such as air diving or sea diving.

Badge Name

Description

Commendation Badge

The military awards Commendation Badges to candidates who execute any special service while serving their term as a commando. One feature that separates this medal from others is that it cannot be awarded posthumously to any Officer.

Tiger Hill Badge

This Badge is one of the most unique of any Badge earned by a Para SF Commando. This is because only officers who worked day and night to capture Tiger Hill during the Kargil War in 1995 are eligible to wear this emblem.

Combat Free Falling Badge

To get this badge, candidates must complete a difficult free-fall course. In addition, they also need to be accustomed to High Altitude High Opening and High Altitude Low Opening techniques.

Chakrata Badge

This is a special badge, similar to the Tiger Hill Badge, and is awarded to the officer who founded the Special Frontier Force located in Chakrata following the Sino-Indian war in 1962.

Medals and Gallantry Badges

All of a candidate's medals and gallantry badges are worn on the left side pocket of the uniform.

Unit's Insignia

A Unit Insignia is worn on the right side of the uniform, beneath the nameplate. The insignia aids in differentiating the Para Commando regiment.
