Ravi, a 27-year-old food delivery rider, depended on his motorbike for daily work. To cut costs, he did not get the bike insured. One evening, while delivering food in heavy traffic, a car swerved into his lane, and he lost his balance and crashed. Although he suffered only minor injuries, his bike was severely damaged.
Without insurance, Ravi had to pay ₹25,000 for the repair, which was a heavy burden on his finances. Besides this, he would not be able to work and, therefore, had lost his earnings. The accident also caused slight damage to the car, making Ravi settle for 10,000 in cash.
This case shows the risks the delivery riders face without an insurance backup. Adequate coverage would provide financial protection for repair expenses, legal liabilities, and loss of income.
