With the EV Shield add-on for electric bikes, you get overall coverage and lots of benefits. Buying the add-on in an electric two-wheeler insurance policy, you will get the following additional coverage:

1. Loss or damage to electrical panel for vehicle charging point

Digit will cover the loss or damage to the electrical panel of your vehicle's charging point, caused by various risks included in Section I of the base policy such as animal attacks and scratches, if you choose to avail of this add-on.

However, it is important to note that the electrical panel should be installed specifically for your insured vehicle and not for any other vehicle.

2. Loss or damage to vehicle charger including charging cable

This electric two-wheeler insurance add-on cover will offer coverage for any loss or damage to your vehicle charger, including the charging cable. This damage may occur due to the risks listed in Section I of base policy including any loss or damage due to animal attack.

This cover provides protection for both wall-mounted and portable chargers.

3. Assistance Services Specific to EV

Since EVs are dependent majorly on their batteries, getting this cover is a good decision as it provides assistance if your insured electric two-wheeler has been immobilized within a limited area as per the base insurance policy.

The immobilisation may be due to malfunctioning of the vehicle’s battery or if the battery runs out of charge.

• Mobile Charging Station Service

If your insured electric vehicle's battery runs out of charge, Digit will arrange for a mobile generator van or portable generator at your location, to charge the battery. 

It's important to note that you can only charge your battery from the generator-driven van for 30 minutes or until the battery charge reaches 30%, whichever happens first.

If the charging process goes beyond 30 minutes or if you charge above 30% battery, the additional charging costs, if any, will be borne by you.

• Replacing Discharged Battery with Charged One (in case vehicle battery is swappable)

If your vehicle has a swappable battery and you find yourself in a situation where your battery is discharged, Digit’s Assistance Services under this add-on will arrange for a charged vehicle battery to be delivered to your immobilized vehicle’s location.

Digit will not be liable to pay any amount or claim under this add-on cover for EV bike insurance in India for the following general exclusions:

1. If your electric two-wheeler undergoes constructive total loss/total loss.
2. If the loss or damage to your vehicle is covered under any other type of insurance policy or manufacturer’s warranty or recall campaign or any other packages.
3. If the loss or damage is reported to the insurance company after 3 days of happening. However, depending on Digit’s sole discretion and valid reason for delay furnished by you in writing, you may be approved for a claim.
4. No claim will be provided if you carry out any repair without prior approval from the insurance company.
5. If you don’t charge the vehicle as per the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) guidelines.
6. If the loss or damage to your electric vehicle has happened due to wear and tear.
7. If the insured vehicle’s battery health is below the threshold as per OEM guidelines.
8. If the insured vehicle’s battery is already dead due to untimely charging or any other reason.
9. If the bike has stopped due to battery over discharge and you do not plug it in for charging within 24 hours from the time of stoppage.
10. If you haven’t taken the minimum required care of the electric bike to protect it from further loss or damage.
