Ducati holds a long record for innovative products, mechanical development and electronic solutions that enhance the overall riding experience of motorcycle enthusiasts. The automaker concentrates on building a connected experience between the rider and the bike.

However, Ducati is also known for its high-end offerings. Thus, is it necessary to opt for Ducati two-wheeler insurance to ensure maximum financial security.

Additionally, in 1988 the Motor Vehicles Act mandated a two-wheeler insurance policy for every Indian rider. In fact, riding any bike without proper insurance documents is considered a crime and applies hefty penalties and punishments.

What’s Covered in Ducati Bike Insurance

What’s not Covered

It is equally important to know what’s not covered in your two-wheeler insurance policy, so that there are no surprises when you make a claim. Here are some such situations:

Own Damages for Third-Party Policy holder

In the case of a Third-Party or Liability Only Bike Policy, damages to own vehicle won’t be covered.

Drunk Riding or without a Licence

Your bike insurance won’t cover for you in situations where you were riding drunk or without a valid two-wheeler licence.

Driving without a valid Driving Licence holder

If you hold a learner’s licence and were riding your two-wheeler without a valid licence-holder on the pillion seat- then your claim in those situations won’t be covered.

Consequential Damages

Any damage which is not a direct result of the accident (e.g. after an accident, if the damaged two-wheeler is being used incorrectly and the engine gets damaged, it will not be covered)

Contributory Negligences

Any contributory negligence(e.g. damage due to driving a two-wheeler in a flood, which is not recommended as per the manufacturer’s driving manual, will not be covered)

Add-ons not Bought

Some situations are covered in add-ons. If you haven’t bought those add-ons, the corresponding situations will not be covered.

A Brief History of Ducati Motorcycle

The “made in Italy” Ducati bikes are infamous for their Desmodromic Valve Actuation, futuristic technology and unconventional designs. The Italian automaker offers a vast range of model series, including Diavel, Monster, Multistrada, Hypermotard, Superbike and Streetfighter. Further, Ducati extends an enormous range of associated accessories and lifestyle and technical apparel in more than 80 countries globally.

In 2008, Ducati collaborated with Precision Motors India Private Limited, the luxury automobile importer, to enter the Indian automobile market. But in 2013, the company terminated its long-term venture with Precision. Ducati made a grand re-entry in 2015 independently, and since then, it has been focusing on expanding its business and service network portfolio.

Why You Must Opt for Ducati Bike Insurance Policies

Motorcycle insurance policy guarantees more than keeping you road-legal in India. Let us find out what more protections it offers.

  1. Third-Party Protection - This is a compulsory policy by law, and any violation attracts legal backlash. It offers third-party liability protection in the event of accidental damages inflicted by your motorcycle to another vehicle, property or person.

  1. Personal Accident CoverThe IRDAI has mandated PA cover for every two-wheeler owner to offer complete financial protection if the rider-owner dies or suffers from a disability in an accident. In such unfortunate cases, the insurer pays ₹ 15 lakh compensation to the victim.

  1. Own Damage Coverage - Another benefit that your insurance for Ducati two-wheeler offers is Own Damage protection. In simple words, under this coverage, the insurance provider is liable to cover for the damages caused to your motorcycle due to accidents, floods, earthquakes, landslides, fire and other mishaps.

  1. Legally Compliant - As mentioned earlier, riding bikes without valid insurance documents is an offence. It will cost you hefty fines of ₹ 2,000 (for first-time violation) and ₹ 4,000 (for the subsequent ones). Other repercussions are driving license confiscation and prison for up to 3 months.

  1. No Claim Bonus Benefits - A well-maintained bike does not demand frequent repairing and replacement works. For that, insurance providers reward their customers with a No Claim Bonus discount. Basically, if you do not claim your Ducati two-wheeler insurance for an entire year, you can earn discounts on policy premiums.

In this regard, Digit Insurance extends NCB discounts ranging between 20% and 50% based on the number of non-claim years.
