Kinetic Engineering Limited is a home-grown automobile manufacturer established in 1972 by HK Firodia. In the initial times, the company was synonymous with Luna and gearless scooters under the name of Kinetic Honda and then Kinetic Motors. In fact, its first gearless scooter KH 100, was an ‘in-demand’ model of the time.

So, if you still ride any of the models, ensure to obtain a Kinetic scooter insurance policy to unburden possible financial drains.

In fact, the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 states that every two-wheeler owner must opt for a two-wheeler insurance policy to ride legally in India.

What’s Covered in Kinetic Scooter Insurance

What’s not Covered

It is equally important to know what’s not covered in your two-wheeler insurance policy, so that there are no surprises when you make a claim. Here are some such situations:

Own Damages for Third-Party Policy holder

In the case of a Third-Party or Liability Only Bike Policy, damages to own vehicle won’t be covered.

Drunk Riding or without a Licence

Your bike insurance won’t cover for you in situations where you were riding drunk or without a valid two-wheeler licence.

Driving without a valid Driving Licence holder

If you hold a learner’s licence and were riding your two-wheeler without a valid licence-holder on the pillion seat- then your claim in those situations won’t be covered.

Consequential Damages

Any damage which is not a direct result of the accident (e.g. after an accident, if the damaged two-wheeler is being used incorrectly and the engine gets damaged, it will not be covered)

Contributory Negligences

Any contributory negligence(e.g. damage due to driving a two-wheeler in a flood, which is not recommended as per the manufacturer’s driving manual, will not be covered)

Add-ons not Bought

Some situations are covered in add-ons. If you haven’t bought those add-ons, the corresponding situations will not be covered.

A Brief History of Kinetic Scooter Two Wheeler

Kinetic Engineering joined hands with Honda Motor Company to launch electric start and gearless transmission scooters such as DX, EX ZX and Marvel, awarded the ‘Scooter of the Year’.

However, in 1998 the companies renounced after Firodias acquired a majority stake. Then, from 2000 to 2008, Kinetic introduced a range of two-wheeler models such as -

  • Y2K
  • ZX Zoom
  • Nova
  • 4S
  • Kine
  • Jupiter
  • Blaze

Among these, Zoom was a notable electric model available in vast colour schemes. It came with a 3-year guaranteed battery that took nearly 3 hours to charge optimally. The model provided a mileage of 100km/charge. It further featured-

  • Parking switch
  • Digital speedometer
  • LED lamp
  • Cruise switch and more

After 10 years, Kinetic collaborated with Mahindra Automobiles to re-establish its stature by designing high-tech two-wheeler models. Later, the company discontinued scooter production and started dealing with automobile parts.

Nonetheless, Kinetic scooters were expensive back in those days. Also, their replacement parts will be hard to find as they are out of production now. Therefore, it will be wise to opt for a new or renew your old two-wheeler insurance policy to confirm financial safety.

Why You Must Opt for Kinetic Scooter Two Wheeler Insurance Policies

Your insurance for Kinetic Scooter will provide financial coverage on repair and replacement expenses and other benefits. They are-

  1. Third-Party Coverage - This is a compulsory two-wheeler policy for every motorist in India. If your bike hits another vehicle, person or property in an accident, the insurance company will provide financial aid to compensate for all the losses.

In case you fail to produce your third-party insurance documents, you have to pay a hefty penalty of ₹ 2,000 for a first-time offence and ₹ 4,000 for the subsequent ones. You may even end up in jail for 3 months.

  1. Personal Accident Cover - As per the IRDAI, insurance companies have to provide PA cover to their customers. Under this protection, the insurer extends ₹15 lakhs compensation to the rider’s family members if he/she dies or undergoes permanent or partial disablement.

  1. Own Damage Protection - Accidents can be severe enough to damage your motorcycle. Besides, your two-wheeler is exposed to other threats such as floods, earthquakes, fire, theft, thunderstorms, etc. Under such cases, your insurer will pay for the repair/replacement against your policy.

  1. No Claim Bonus Benefit - Insurance companies reward their customers with a No Claim Bonus if one does not file a claim for an entire year. This bonus acts as a discount on the premium and ranges from 20% to 50%. The discounts depend on the number of non-claim years.

In this regard, Digit Insurance is a reliable option for a two-wheeler insurance policy.
