• Exceeding the speed limit

If you drive a vehicle at a speed above the mentioned speed limit, traffic police might charge you with an overspeeding fine.

• Not obeying traffic signals

Sometimes, you might be in a hurry because of some emergency and may not stop at traffic signals. This can lead to overspeeding and, eventually, an overspeeding challan in Delhi.

• Driving under the influence

Most of the overspeeding cases happen due to the consumption of intoxicating substances. These substances include the intake of alcohol and drugs. Therefore, driving under the influence of these substances is punishable. You might have to pay an over-speed challan in Delhi.

It is important to maintain a speed limit while driving a vehicle to save yourself from paying a challan. According to Motor Vehicles Act, under section 184, you cannot drive a vehicle beyond a certain limit. Violating this offence can lead to the payment of an overspeeding fine. • As per section 112.1/183(1) MVA, if you drive LMV at high-speed in Delhi, a fine of ₹2000 will be charged. Also, according to the same section speeding an MMV or HTV leads to an overspeeding fine of ₹4000. Moreover, subsequent violations of these rules can also lead to seizing your driving licence.
• If you are racing or speeding your vehicle at high speed, you have to pay a fine of ₹5000. Your driving licence will be seized and suspended for at least three months.
• Overspeeding with dangerous driving and violating the direction of a police officer leads to a charge of ₹7000.

• Online Mode

You can also pay the over-speed challan in Delhi through online mode by visiting the Delhi Traffic Police Website. On the portal, enter the vehicle number, challan number and your driving licence number to check the pending fine amount.  Choose your preferred payment option from and pay the requisite amount. 

• Offline Mode

To pay a fine in Delhi via offline mode, you have to visit your nearest police station. You should also carry your driving licence and the letter of overspeeding your vehicle along with you. After that, you can pay the overspeeding fine.
