How to Get a Learning, Permanent or Duplicate Licence in Hyderabad?

2. Permanent Driving Licence: After you get a learner’s licence, you need to clear the driving test to acquire a permanent licence.

3. Duplicate Driving Licence: If you have lost the permanent driving licence, you can apply for a duplicate licence from the R.T.O. office.

• If you seek a licence to drive a two-wheeler without gears (with engine capacity not exceeding 50 cc), you should be above 16 years of age.
  

• If you seek a licence to drive a two-wheeler or four-wheeler with gears, you must be over 18 years of age. 

• If you seek a licence to drive a commercial or heavy motor vehicle, you should be above 20 years of age.

• You should be well-versed in traffic rules and regulations. You should also have a valid address and age-proof documents.

You will have to deposit these documents in front of the Road Transport Authority, enabling him to approve your licence.

Steps to Apply for Learner’s Licence Online

• Step 1: Navigate to the Government of Telangana Transport Department's official website or Sarathi Parivahan portal.

• Step 2: Click on the "Licence" option and select “Learner’s Licence” from the drop-down menu.

• Step 3: Select “Click here to book learner’s licence slot” at the bottom of this page.

• Step 4: Fill out forms 1 (self-declaration for non-transport vehicles), 2, and 3, and attach relevant documents while submitting the form.
• Step 5: Book the learner's licence test slot by filling out the necessary fields with your district, test centre, mobile number, and CAPTCHA code.

Steps to Apply for a Learner’s Licence Offline

• Step 1: Reach your nearest R.T.O. office. 
• Step 2: Collect Form 4 and submit it after filling it out carefully. Provide the required documents while submitting the form. 
• Step 3: Pay associated fees and get a slot for the preliminary test. It helps the authorities judge your capability to understand traffic rules and regulations.

If you pass the test, you will immediately receive a Learner's Licence. After this, you can book an online time slot for the driving test at the R.T.O. office.

• Step 1: Your learner's licence is valid for 30 days, after which you can appear for the driving test at the R.T.O. office. This test will be conducted in the presence of a Motor Vehicle Inspector. You will have to take your motor vehicle and learner's licence for the test.
• Step 2: If the Motor Vehicle Inspector is satisfied with your performance, you will be sent for the biometrics.

• Step 4: After this, you will be issued your permanent Driving Licence.

Steps to Apply for a Duplicate Licence Online

• Step 1: Visit the official website of R.T.O. and click on the “Licence” option.

• Step 2: Select the "Duplicate” option from the drop-down menu.

• Step 3: Select the option to book a slot online.

• Step 4: Select "Duplicate of Licence” under the "Driving Licence" section on the next page.

• Step 5: Enter the DL number and other details on the next page and submit the form, supporting documents, and fees.

You will receive the Driving Licence within a few days but only after the verification process is over. The process to apply for a duplicate licence should be completed within 6 months after you have lost the original DL.

Steps to Apply for a Duplicate Licence Offline

• Step 1: Visit the R.T.O. office from where you have got the permanent driving licence. 
• Step 2: Collect the L.L.D. form, fill it out properly, and submit it with the necessary documents, mentioning a realistic reason for its loss.
• Step 3: Pay the application fee and collect the receipt, which you can use as a substitute for the DL until you receive the duplicate DL.

After verification, you will receive the duplicate driving licence in a few days. Make sure you apply for the duplicate DL within 6 months of losing the original one.

Documents Required for a Duplicate Licence

• Application form L.L.D. duly filled and signed.

• A copy of the complaint, F.I.R., and an affidavit.

• Form 1 self-declaration of medical fitness.

• Proof of residence and age.

• The fee receipt of Rs.200/- for a duplicate licence.

• Details of the driving license

• Affidavit mentioning the reason for the loss of the original driving license. 

• 3 recent passport-size photographs of the applicant

Prepare for the renewal of your driving licence around 30 days before its expiry. In general, a driving licence is valid for 20 years or up to 50 years of age whichever is earlier. A Driving Licence issued for a commercial vehicle is valid for 3 years.

Steps to Apply for Renewal of DL Online

• Step 1: Visit the official website of the Telangana transport department.

• Step 2: Select the “Renewal” option under the "Licence" section.

• Step 3: Continue with the online slot booking option.

• Step 4: Select “Renewal of Licence” under the Driving Licence section.

• Step 5: On the next page, enter your D.O.B., DL number, contact details, etc. and proceed further.

• Step 6: Fill out the renewal form and submit it along with the fees of ₹200, supporting documents, and a copy of the expired licence.
• Step 7: Collect the renewal receipt to drive without any legal hazards until your licence is not renewed.

Steps to Apply for Renewal of DL Offline

• Step 1: Reach your nearest R.T.O. in Hyderabad and collect the DL renewal form.
• Step 2: Complete the form fill-up procedure and submit it with the required documents.
• Step 3: Pay the fee of ₹200 while submitting the application form and collecting the receipt to track the renewal status.

Documents Required for Renewal of the Driving Licence

• Copy of expired driver's licence.

• Medical certificate if the driver is more than 40 years old.

• Self-attested copies of age proof and address proof.

• Application fees of Rs.200/- and receipt.

• Form 1 and Form 1A, if your age is above 50 years.

Your local Driving Licence is not valid across the globe; hence, you need to obtain an I.D.L. for use abroad. You can visit the nearest R.T.O. and submit the required information.
