Functions of RTO Offices in Hubli

Recent Traffic Events in Hubli

According to a report, the Hubli-Dharwad Traffic Police has registered over 3.25 lakh traffic violations in the last 4 years. In the wake of this, the state government announced a 50% rebate on the due fines. By offering the rebate, the government hopes to recover up to ₹8 crore worth of traffic fines. 

As per reports, multiple parking spots and diversions were introduced in Hubli on the occasion of the Prime Minister's visit. Traffic movement was blocked on multiple roads for 6 hours on two consecutive days. It further instigated a complete blockade of heavy motor vehicle movement in the city.  

Another report said that 8 people died and 25 faced severe injuries after a lorry collided with a private bus. It took place near Hubli after midnight when a private bus collided with a transport truck. 

Road Safety Campaigns in Hubli

As per reports, in an innovative measure to create road safety awareness among children, the Hubballi-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System or HD-BRTS is developing a traffic park in Hubli. The traffic park will help familiarise children with traffic rules and regulations. The park will contain miniature replicas of traffic signals, footpaths, and zebra crossing to create awareness among the younger generation.

The officials have remarked that children will be able to ride bicycles in the park. The first of such a kind in the Hubli region, the park is inspired by the traffic park in Pune. 

The Hubli-Dharwad police have taken to enforce road safety measures in the region. According to an official press release, the police have launched a drive to penalise the traffic rule violators. The drive was introduced under the Motor Vehicle Act and registered almost 250 cases in two days. 

The commissioner has noted that the drive comes as a way to enforce traffic regulations in the district. In a single day, police have registered 37 cases of faulty registration plates, 79 cases of no registration plates and 3 cases of faulty silencers. The commissioner has clarified that the drive is to create awareness about traffic regulations and not to penalise people.
