What is covered under Digit’s Student Travel Study Interruption cover? 

The insured will be covered during the policy period if you are unexpectedly hospitalized for more than one consecutive month due to: 

  • an injury (which is covered by your travel insurance), 

  • sickness (terminal as well), 

  • medical repatriation to India, or even 

  • death/permanent total disability of your family member or sponsor.

You will be reimbursed up to your sum insured if you discontinue your planned studies due to an unexpected event.

What’s not Covered under Study Interruption?

If you need to file a claim under Study Interruption cover, you must also be aware of what cannot be covered. 

Anything mentioned in the General Exclusions section of your insurance policy document will not be covered. Along with that:

  • Any claim due to pregnancy or childbirth, venereal disease, or infirmity. 

  • Any exclusion mentioned in the Specific Exclusion Section of the “Personal Accident” cover is applicable to you, your immediate family, and your sponsor.

  • Any exclusion mentioned in the Specific Exclusion Section of the “Emergency Medical Treatment and Evacuation”, or “Emergency Accidental Treatment and Evacuation” cover applicable to you. 

  • You cannot file the same claim under both “Study Interruption” and “Accident of the Sponsor” cover of your policy.

Minimum documents required to claim with Digit under Study Interruption

While filing a claim, one must contact the Customer Service helpline immediately. You will be asked to produce the following documents basis the requirement of your claim:

  • Medical certificate furnishing details of date of admission and date of discharge together with the details of the injury or illness and treatment rendered.

  • Death/PTD/PPD certificate from a registered medical practitioner (where applicable).You should also have an official invoice from your educational institution and vouchers of payment of the said tuition fees.
