A driving licence is issued by an RTO of a respective state after passing subsequent examinations. But before that, applicants must apply and fill up their details online or offline. Then they need to appear for a driving test, only after clearing which can they get the licence.

1. Via Parivahan Website

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Step 2: Click on the "Online Services" tab on the webpage.

Step 3: Click on "Driving Licence Related Services" from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Select the state (in this case Punjab) from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Then navigate to the top-right and click on "Application Status".

Step 6: Enter the required details, such as "Date of Birth", "Application Number", and "Captcha".

Step 7: After entering information, click on "Submit".

Step 8: After you provide all the information, you can check the status of your driving licence application.

2. Via Sarathi Website

Step 1: Go to the official website of Sarathi.

Step 2: Navigate and click on the “Application Status” tab.

Step 3: After that enter a few additional details like “Application Number”, “Date of Birth”, and “Captcha”.

Step 4: After entering the required details, click "Submit". After that, you will be able to see your application status.

3. Via State Transport Official Website

Step 1: Navigate to the official portal for the Transport Department of Punjab.

Step 2: Locate Driving Licence Services.

Step 3: After that click on “Driving Licence and Learners Licence Services”.

Step 4: Click on the “Application Status” tab.

Step 5: After that, you will be redirected to a new page, and there you have to enter the captcha to click on the “Submit” button.

Step 6: On the next page, you will see the status of your driving licence.

If you are not comfortable to check driving licence application status online in Punjab, you can also opt for the offline method. The steps for checking the status of a driving licence offline are:

Step 1: Visit the nearest RTO office in your locality.

Step 2: Provide the prerequisites to get your driving licence status, such as your application number.

Most RTOs need approximately 30 days to complete the total procedure of providing your driving licence. Additionally, it can take about 14 days to dispatch it. So, you can start checking after 14 days to get relevant updates.

While checking the driving licence application in Punjab, you need to keep the following pointers in mind.

Tip 1: Ensure that the information you provide is correct, as inaccurate information can provide you with invalid results.

Tip 2: Also, make sure you have your documents ready before you begin the process.

Besides checking after 14 days, it is also advised not to check the driving licence application status in Punjab daily. But, you can check once or twice per week to note progress on your application status. Also, note that a driving licence is valid for 20 years, and after that, you will be required to renew it.
